Let’s Explore Leicester – Christmas Edition!

Written by Alice Warburton

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…again! That’s right, Christmas is coming, and if you’re travelling in the government window between the 3rd-9th December, then you need to explore Leicester in all its Christmas glory before it’s too late. Usually, there would be an amazing ice rink in the middle of Jubilee Square, and a huge Ferris wheel for you and all your friends to enjoy (if you’re not afraid of heights of course!). Things are slightly different this year (and we all know why), but that doesn’t mean things aren’t any less amazing.

Take a walk along Every Street in the city to find the Town Hall covered in Christmas decs! A massive banner, reading ‘Christmas Greetings’ first meets your eye, before seeing decorations and tinsel galore. There’s also a cute Narnia scene to feast upon, as well as the classic nativity portrayal. A further walk by the clock tower will show you an enormous Christmas tree beautifully adorned, and although there was no Christmas lights turn on event this year, the decorations are still amazing. If you do fancy watching a Christmas lights turn on video, then there is one available online!
