REVIEW: Treetop Adventure Golf Leicester

Golfing experience

– Louise King

Located in the heart of Leicester, just outside the Highcross shopping centre, is Treetop Adventure Golf – a jungle-themed indoor crazy golf experience complete with two different and exciting 18-hole courses.

Even before entering the venue, the outside of the building is instantly recognizable from its colourfully designed entrance and this aesthetic translates inside. Tropical plants and animals replicate the rainforest atmosphere alongside the venue’s lighting and sound systems all of which create an immersive golf experience.

We were impressed by an array of obstacles at each hole that ranged from talking trees to ancient temples, because this added an extra challenge for players to attempt a hole -in-one. Movement around the course also ran smoothly after being informed of some house rules by friendly staff on arrival, such as keeping shots to six per hole and playing in teams of up to four (bigger group sizes welcome though and can follow the course one after the other).

After completing the trail, there was even chance to put your skills to the test with the bonus 19th hole that, if successfully putted, could win you a free game – what’s not to like? And an unique photo booth opportunity that lets you get a great group shot to celebrate the occasion and email yourself a digital copy.

After our game of golf, we were seated in the dining area. We were swiftly greeted by a friendly waiter, who was more than happy to give us in-depth explanations of the various items on the menu.

We didn’t get a chance to try the cocktails, but there was a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options on offer, from the classic mojitos and margaritas to jungle-inspired concoctions such as the Treetop Sunrise, a mocktail made from an assortment of tropical juices.

The pizza menu caters to all tastes and the open kitchen highlighting the pizza oven is a nice touch. Our pizza topping choices varied from pepperoni to Brie and onion chutney, and they even offer a garlic pizza bread. All of our party enjoyed their food, and the staff were also quick to correct mistakes and resolve any dietary issues.

While a playlist of 80s pop classics might sound like a strange choice given the tropical theme, it certainly helped to keep the party atmosphere going as we enjoyed our meal.

Overall, the venue’s extensive course and authentic décor makes a brilliant experience for students and offers a great discount with a valid student photo ID. This would provide an entertaining evening activity or a great way to spend a study break.
