Christmas Returns to Campus
Written by Rabbia Tariq
Christmas celebrations will return to campus this week, after missing out last year. The ice rink, food stalls, and Christmas movies are all coming back to campus for the holidays in a Winter Wonderland event designed to ‘create magical moments this festive season’.
The ice rink, a favourite amongst students, will be available on today and tomorrow (Tuesday 30th November and Wednesday 1st December) from 12pm till 6pm. It’s a great way to take a break between lectures and unwind with friends. This will take place in the Centenary Square. The ice rink will be free, and there will also be support with ice skating for anyone that needs it.
In Centenary Square, there will also be an array of food and gift stalls. There will be many options to choose from, with both savoury and sweet foods are expected. A variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. You could even start your Christmas shopping at one of the gift stalls.
Starting at 5pm, the seasonal favourite film Home Alone will be shown at the Attenborough Film Theatre on the lower ground level of the Attenborough Building. The event is expected to be popular, and space is limited, so it is recommended that you reserve a spot ahead of time. This can be done through the university’s online page.
The University’s Winter Wonderland is not an event to miss. In addition, several departments will be hosting their own events. For example, the School of Business will be hosting a Festive Friday food and cash bar for students at the ULSB hub. With so many activities going on at this time of year, it’s worth checking the university’s social media pages regularly.
